Dr. Seuss Ice Cream Party

For Jace's 2nd birthday

In another new town (few friends & family), I celebrated his party with an afternoon get together with my mommy group! Inspired by Jace's love for Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham and other books. I made it a book party! With

the sunshine, I decided to keep it simple and have an Ice Cream Sandwich buffet, with different ice cream, toppings, and cookies to make pazookies!

My chalk art on the walkway was a drawn picture of the Cat in the hat & the words: Could you, would you Celebrate? Would you? Could you, It'd be Great!!!

Inspired by a $4.99 Thing 1 shirt I saw at Ross, my love for ice cream, and my desire to do things inexpensively, I formulated a Dr. Seuss Ice cream party.

Colors: red, dark blue, light blue, black, and white (I think 2-3 colors is never enough!)

Activities: I made bookmarks with curly ribbon leftover from the balloon string, had set up a bookmark craft table for the kids to make their own bookmark: ABC stamps, Dr. Seuss stickers, ice cream stickers, & markers.

I created a few quizzes for the mommies. I made another game board, this time with "ice cream flavor" names. One of the games was to call the moms by their new names, nothing is funnier than being called Sprinkles or Chocolate all day!

After the rounds of games, i.e. Name that Seuss- I had pictures of Dr. Seuss books with the titles blotted out and they had to identify them.... the winner won a Dr. Seuss "I Can read with my eyes shut" book for their children and a Coldstone giftcard with a fun sprinkle spoon nicely attached to the book, for the mom or child.

The object was for the moms to compete in a chance to win a prize for their child while the kids made bookmarks (since it was a storybook party). The craft was aimed at the children 18 mos-3 years.

For party favors, I made sugar cookies cut out in the #2. I put 2 in the bag, one sugar and one cinnamon sugar with a tag that said: "I'm so glad, so glad you see... that you would come to celebrate me! Thank you, thank you, Jace age 2" with a thing 2 picture. The kids gobbled them up!
I think party favors should be something to be enjoyed not something that ends up under the seat of your car cause its just a bunch of 5cent toys that break in 2 seconds and cause major choke hazards or hard candies that you cringe when you see that your child is going to ask to eat that!
